Toll rate for buses

Vehicle type bus now requires evidence

On 1 January 2025 a separate GO toll rate will be introduced for buses: For omnibuses, the costs for offsetting the CO₂ emissions caused by traffic will be reduced by 25 percent. This means that in future there will be one rate for HGVs and motorhomes and one rate for buses.

Omnibuses of vehicle classes M2 and M3 from 3.5 t maximum technically permissible laden mass will be eligible for the bus rate. The vehicle class must be entered in box J on the vehicle registration certificate.

This means that the vehicle type bus is becoming a rate characteristic requiring evidence in addition to CO₂ and EURO emission class.

Changes to the tolling system

No need for action for the majority of vehicles

If we already have your vehicle registration certificate as evidence of the emission classes for your vehicle, you have no need for action:

  • Do you drive a bus? The bus rate will be taken into account automatically from 1.1.2025 for your license plate number.
  • Do you drive a motorhome? Vehicles which are classified as motorhomes on account of the vehicle registration certificate data will automatically be changed to the rate for HGVs and motorhomes by the end of 2024. This change will not make the GO toll for motorhomes more expensive.

Registration of motorhomes from 1.7.2024

From July 1, 2024, motorhomes will no longer be assigned to the bus vehicle type, but to the HGV vehicle type in the GO toll system.

Note that the number of axles can be adjusted on your GO-Box. With buses and motorhomes, however, the axles of the trailer are still not taken into account.

Make absolutely sure before, during and at the end of every trip that you have set the correct number of axles!
